Mariah Carey announces Christmas concerts at Madison Square Garden and Scotiabank Arena
New York, NY (SPRINT) – The holidays may be the toughest time of year for artists, but singer/songwriter Mariah Carey found a creative way to promote the season during a press event at Madison Square Garden, announcing the release of two live concerts from her Christmas album.
On Monday, December 11, Carey and her three-piece band The Pussycat Dolls will headline the holiday concerts at Madison Square Garden, the site of the Grammy Awards, along with a performance from Carey, The Pussycats, and a surprise collaboration from Mariah and Cee-Lo Green for a song called “All I Want for Christmas Is You”.
On Thursday, December 21, Carey’s Christmas album All I Want for Christmas Is You will be released at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
As previously announced, Carey will also be releasing a ‘reimagined’ version of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” on December 22, with a new melody that sounds nothing like the original.
The Christmas concerts will be followed by a series of holiday themed concerts that will take place throughout the upcoming year, culminating with the release of Carey’s Christmas album and a headlining performance in New York City on January 6, 2016.
Carey said her holiday concerts will provide a musical celebration of the holiday season. “I want to be true to that spirit of love and togetherness.”
